SGOU Student Login: Enrolment Number, ABC ID and DEB ID

Students at Sreenarayanaguru Open University (SGOU) can log into the portal using their registered email and a password of at least 8 characters. Learners must create an Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) / APAAR ID via DigiLocker using their Aadhaar number, and use it to generate their UGC DEB ID. All online fee transactions incur zero additional gateway charges across cards, UPI, and Net Banking.

Candidate and Student Portal Login Procedure

Enrolled students and applicants access university services through the SGOU Learner’s Portal login page. Password length must be at least 8 characters.

  1. Go to the Candidate/Student Login portal.
  2. Enter your registered Email address in the ‘E-mail’ field.
  3. Enter your password (minimum 8 characters) in the ‘password’ field.
  4. Complete the reCAPTCHA verification (‘g-recaptcha-response’).
  5. Click the ‘Login’ button to access your portal dashboard.

Official and Counsellor Portal Login Procedure

University officials and counsellors must sign in through the dedicated official gateway on the SGOU official staff portal.

  1. Navigate to the Official/Counsellor Login page.
  2. Type your assigned email in the ‘Email address’ field.
  3. Type your account password (at least 8 characters) in the ‘Password’ field.
  4. Check the reCAPTCHA authentication box.
  5. Click the ‘Login’ button.

Steps to Create Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) / APAAR ID

SGOU students must generate an ABC/APAAR ID as per UGC instructions. Follow the procedure detailed in the SGOU ABC and DEB user manual to register.

  1. Visit the official ABC portal at https://www.abc.gov.in/ and click ‘Students’.
  2. Click ‘Sign Up’ to start registration (or log into your existing DigiLocker account and proceed to step 6).
  3. Enter your mobile number and click ‘Generate OTP’.
  4. Type the OTP received on your mobile and click ‘Verify OTP’.
  5. Complete personal information: select ‘Aadhaar’ as Document Type, enter your Aadhaar number, Name, Date of Birth, Gender, desired Username, and set a Security PIN.
  6. Check the consent checkbox for terms of use and click ‘Verify’.
  7. Sign in using Aadhaar, enter your Security PIN, consent to terms, and click ‘Sign In’. Click ‘Allow’ on the permission prompt.
  8. In the registration form, select Identity Type as ‘New Admission’, select ‘I am student at Sreenarayanaguru Open University’, choose Admission Year as ‘2025’, and click ‘Submit’.
  9. Your APAAR/ABC ID will display on the screen. Click ‘Dashboard’ to view your profile details and log out after use.

Steps to Generate UGC DEB ID

After creating an ABC ID, distance learners must generate a Distance Education Bureau (DEB) ID to complete their portal credentials as outlined in the SGOU ABC and DEB user manual.

  1. Open the UGC DEB portal at https://deb.ugc.ac.in/StudentDEBId.
  2. Type your 12-digit ABC ID into the field provided.
  3. Click the ‘Enter’ button to generate and display your DEB ID.

Online Fee Payment Gateway Modes and Service Charges

Fee payments for all services must be completed online. Upon successful payment, generate and preserve the payment receipt. SGOU has not published specific rules for online retrieval of forgotten enrolment numbers on its site as of 02 October 2026.

  • If a fee payment is deducted but no confirmation message or receipt is generated, contact the University Office before attempting another payment.
  • For fee refunds or payment cancellations, contact the University Office directly.
